Nurturing, Healthy and Safe Environment

Nurturing Environment:

Our teachers are dedicated to the development of trust, security and emotional growth through prompt, nurturing and responsive care for children of all ages.

  • Loving, personal care builds your child’s self-esteem
  • Regular teacher-child interactions spark curiosity and socialization
  • Reading to children throughout the day creates an early love of learning
  • Low teacher-to-child ratios, primary care groups and small group sizes allow us to better meet the individual needs of each child

Health and Safety

Our management and teaching staff ensures our facility exceeds standards at all times.  The equipment, the classrooms, and the playgrounds are inspected daily.  Our health and safety checklists ensure nothing is overlooked.

  • New Odyssey for Children provides a safe and clean learning environment for your child.  Our facility is accessible via a single entry keypad. We use a fingerprint sign in and out computer program through Procare systems to monitor attendance. Strict release authorization policies and procedures ensure the safety and protection of our children.

  • We also have video monitoring in all of our classrooms and a monitor at our front desk. Although we do not stream the video online (for safety reasons), you have the ability to view your child’s room from our lobby.

  • Every member of our staff is certified in CPR, 1st Aid and Fire Safety.  Infectious Disease, Child Abuse and Injury Prevention are required training classes for all staff during their first year of employment.  Emergency evacuation and fire drills are conducted at least monthly and tornado drills are conducted quarterly.  We also practice safe bus evacuation drills throughout the year with our school age children as well as those preschool children who attend off-site field trips.

  • Our staff is trained in proper sanitation and OSHA procedures.  This includes regular hand washing, proper disinfecting of toys and equipment, and compliance with the OSHA Bloodborne Pathogens Standards. Our Quality Rated initiative adds to these policies and procedures to ensure that we have a safe and clean environment for our children.

  • Frequent visits from the fire department, a police officer dentist and other professionals focused on health and safety help educate and reinforce what our staff teaches the children.

  • Our school is a peanut / tree nut restricted facility.  To ensure the proper management of all food related allergies, we prohibit outside food.  We work closely with families, with their doctor’s input, to accommodate allergy, asthma, and other health care related plans, such as diabetes.
